With their unmistakably rosy hue, Pink Spotted Shrimp are easily identified among their peers throughout the Gulf of Mexico. They earn this color thanks to their exceptionally cartenoid-rich diet, largely consisting of algae, zooplankton, and small critters—all of which also contribute to their sweet, mild, elegant flavor. This, along with their plump texture, makes Pink Spotted Shrimp especially well-suited to very gentle cooking, and there’s scarcely a better choice for any dish served cold.
Like all of our shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico, farfantepenaeus duorarums is caught on a small vessel that is part of a decade-long Fishery Improvement Project in the Gulf, representing a partnership that we are extremely proud of. Of all their catches, Pink Spotted Shrimp tend to be the shallowest-dwellers, and the pinkest among them are found farthest south, off the coasts of Florida and the Caribbean.
